Tips and Tricks when using an RD terminal server session.
1. Do not surf the web using your RD session. If you must use the web, minimize your RD screen and use Chrome or Firefox directly from the mini, laptop, or desktop.
2. You should limit the amount of applications running inside of your RD terminal server session. (e.g. If you are in MIX writing a note, Outlook doesn't need to be running also)
3. For Verizon and Sprint users: Keep in mind that the Verizon and Sprint connections are using cell phone towers for data. Therefore, if you are in a location that does not receive a good cell tower signal, your connection may drop. This is especially true in some school buildings. If you have difficulty at a school let us know, and we will see if the school will allow you to have access to their wireless network.
4. Always save your documents to your personal folder (F drive). Do not save anything to the mini itself, laptop drives, the documents folder, or the desktop in the RD session. It will be gone the next time you log in. Your F drive is given to you so that you have a secure place on a Cummins server to store documents so that they will be securely backed up. NEVER save documents of any kind on a school or personal computer/device. This will ensure that your documents are not lost or in violation of HIPAA laws.
5. Do not attempt to add a printer while in the RD session. Printers cannot be added directly to RD, the printer must be installed on the local mini or laptop in order for printer redirection to enable you to print from an RD session.
